"Sachin! Sachin!!" will reverberate in my ears till I stop breathing!"
Date:- 11/12/13..
On the above auspicious date I was with my colleagues in company canteen
at 4pm. We were having our tea and
biscuits as our daily routine. That is the time when we forget our work load
for a while and enjoy those couple of minutes with teasing and fooling around.
At around 4.10pm there was an announcement which turned out to be a cherry on
cake for all the techi people who were pissed off by their work. It was an
announcement by HR that there will be a small get-together on account of the
unique date 11/12/13 at 4.15pm and we were expected to gather in cafeteria.
At
around 4.20pm HRs arrived with 2 guitar players and a drummer. There was one
senior bald guy too with them who apparently turned out to be the attraction of
the upcoming show. They just gave an introduction about why we have gathered. Then
guitar players started playing their chords. The first song played was ‘summer
of 69’ to encourage the audience and bring some heat in the environment. There
were around 200 people present in the cafeteria by that time. Audience also
requested some songs to be played like ‘Jo bhi main’ from rockstar etc. We sang
the songs with guitarist. My personal favourite was ‘Papa khete hai’ which I
sang with much enthusiasm.
The fun was on increasing note in 15-20mins and the crowd along with me
where on toes. From nowhere between I got a puckish, notorious idea. I asked my
colleagues and the people with whom I was standing in huddle to shout “Sachinnnn!!Sachinnnn!!”
in a specific tone for no reason but for fun. I wanted to continue the
tradition which I used to do in my college with my dear friends. In India
Sachin tendulkar is considered to be the God of Cricket. As he has given
immense pleasure with his bat and made us proud about him and our country. Reciting
his name adds joy and we feel like Diwali festival which is very close to our
heart. After every song we started shrilling “Sachinnnn!!Sachinnnn!!” and now other
guys around us also joined. As per HRs the celebration was supposed to end by
5pm. Now the time was 4.50pm, so they started the last part of the fun i.e.
distributing gift vouchers or some token present to the person who will give
the correct answer. The first question was to tell the location of branches of
our company across the world. Some experienced senior guy came forward and
answered it. He was congratulated by crowd with the name of great maestro Sachin!
This continued for next 3-4 questions and answers. The environment was at its
best by then. HRs might have thought that atmosphere is interested in Sachin.
So for concluding the HR asked the final question-
“ What is the date of Sachin Tendulkar’s
farewell? ”
As
this question struck my ears I found my hand up in the air to answer the
question and without thinking much I uttered “Nov 16th”. The HR asked me the year
and actually I felt pity about her for asking me The Year and hurriedly I answered “2013 off course”. The male HR
confirmed the answer from the public and asked me with his both hands to come
forward and get the present. I was standing much behind in the audience. From
that place to the centre where HRs were standing I had to find route among the
huddled people. As I started my journey towards the centre, whole crowd started
screaming again “Sachinnnn!!Sachinnnn!!” This time it was very much louder. I couldn’t
stop myself from blushing. I enjoyed every moment of that. The HR handed me a
pen and a paper weight as token present which were not as special as the name
banging my ears continuously. All the gentlemen and ladies were looking at me
and “Sachinnnn!!Sachinnnn!!” was at its best.
I
came back to my desk. My colleagues congratulated me and said “You are a true
Sachin Tendulkar’s Fan”. This sentence also delighted me a lot. As he is my
most favourite personality. He inspires me a lot. His humbleness, his innocent
smile, his attitude in life all are God gifted and he is God gift to India. Now
after this memorable incidence even I can say that
"Sachin! Sachin!!" will reverberate in my ears
till I stop breathing!””
